Meal preps from the garden!
[UPDATE:] Click here for regular updates on my meal preps for them!
I’m so happy that my Chye Sim, garlic and mint herbs are finally flourishing and time for a trim!
Decided to start meal prepping for the chickens as they are currently in molting season now.
They need some extra protein and immunity during this chilly weather in Singapore.

For this bowl, we have
- Kai Lan Vegetable
- Peas (Protein)
- Mealworms (Protein)
- Apple Mint (Proudly grown by me, with the guidance of a special friend!!)
- Blueberries
- Soaked Chia Seeds
- Red and Yellow Tomatoes (I should start growing tomatoes!)
- Fresh Oregano (Natural antibiotic and for immunity and respiratory health)
- Raw Garlic (Immunity booster, Also from our garden!)

- Chye Sim (From the garden)
- Mint leaves (From the garden too!)
- Raw garlic (Yes, proudly grown by me!) 😂
- Fresh oregano
- Yellow tomatoes
- Blueberries
- Edamame
- Soaked Chia Seeds

- Scrambled Eggs with dried oregano
- Blueberries
- Mealworms
- Fresh oregano
- Raw garlic (From the garden!)
You must be thinking “WHAT? Chickens eating chickens eggs? Isn’t that cannibalism?”
But did you know it’s the best source of protein, vitamin A, E and beta carotene for them?
For dying birds/chickens, feeding them hardboiled or scrambled eggs always help to revitalize them! It’s a emergency food for them!
But don’t over feed them with scrambled eggs daily, do it once a week or every 3 to 4 days depending on their protein needs.

- Scrambled eggs with dried Oregano. (Hidden at bottom)
- Yellow tomatoes
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Cabbage
- Fancy USA Italian parsley (Coz I cannot find normal parsley at NTUC. 😂 )
- Fresh Oregano
- Mealworms
Cleaning tips for your chicken cage
Since it’s the COVID-19 period right now, we have reduced our weekend outings, so today I shall share some tips on cleaning of our chicken cage.
Tip: We pour Dettol into a small spray bottle that you can easily spray out evenly and reduce wastage.

Don’t forget to clean and wash your feeder too!
And leave it to sun it for as long as you can. I usually leave it for a few hours! It’s a natural and free disinfectant too!
Note: if you are worried about the residual smell of Dettol, this method works great for me. Because putting in a spray bottle, controls the amount of Dettol used. And after rinsing, there’s no Dettol smell at all.
I also sun it for a couple of hours before I put wood shavings in. In fact, if the sun is good, I will sun it again after putting the diatomaceous earth and wood shavings in!

Add your fresh wood shavings in, and don’t forget to also sprinkle DENutrients Diatomaceous Earth in evenly.

Make sure you mix them in and make sure the wood shavings are evenly coated with food grade Diatomaceous Earth!
This helps prevent odor, mites, ants, fleas! And makes a great natural dewormer and supplement for the chickens too.
